1. Ha Giang Route
The Ha Giang route fulfils all your imaginations of riding a bike on the Asian roads. It is that is surrounded by luscious green hills. This route is 300 miles long between small towns that are wrapped with mountains and is located in Northern Vietnam. You will get to see a lot while you bike along this route which includes a part of the province of Sapa, the Chinese border, the town of Bac Ha, Xin Man and Muong Khuong. What could be more beautiful than riding pass the beautiful and green rice terraces, ethnic tribes and picturesque villages?
If you are looking for a long adventure on the bike then this route is perfect for you because, it will take you five long days to get through this route which is full of slightly sharp turns and high mountain peaks. The best time to bike along the Ha Giang route is in fall which is between the months of September to October. You will get to see the green rice terraces and the weather will also be pleasant. However, this route is not recommended for beginners as it is a quite difficult due to the concrete laying around on the road and the windy atmosphere.
2. Thakhek Loop
The Thakhek Loop in Central Laos is 465 kilometres long and is perfect for beginners. It will take you at least three days to get through the whole route. The roads are in good condition and the weather is mostly pleasant. The scenery at the Thakhek loop is to die for and the overall ride is makes you feel like you are meditating. During the ride, you will get to see the Konglor cave which is something you must check off from your bucket list. It is known as one of the most beautiful and impressive caves of Southeast Asia.
3. Ho Chi Minh Trail
The Ho Chi Minh Trail in Vietnam is known to be the most popular and highly recommended routes for motorbiking in Asia. It is 692 Kilometres long and will take at the very least, three whole days to travel it. The road conditions are not that good just because, the road is very well trodden. Hence, if you are a beginner then this route is not for you. To go for a bike ride on this route, you need to have a lot of command over your bike. This because, this road is quite rocky, and it is mostly made out of concrete so, there is chance that your bike might spin out. But, if you are not a beginner and know how to handle a bike then you must not miss the views that the Ho Chi Minh Trail has to offer. Just imagine riding on a long straight road with a lush green view and farm animals that leads you towards a mountain. You get the see the best of Ho Chi Minh when you reach the mountain top.
4. Mae Hong Son Loop
The Mae Hong Son Loop is located in Northern Thailand and covers the distance of 670 kilometres. It will take you approximately 6 days to go through the whole loop. The roads are in a very good condition and are made out of concrete for the most part which makes it an easy route and perfect for beginners.
The Mae Hong Son Loop is the most picturesque and scenic route out of all the others mentioned in this list. It is popular for its 1865 loops and soft turns that almost feels like you are riding in a calming rhythm. This ride will allow you to discover the remote yet, stunningly beautiful areas of Northern Thailand. Go for this route even if you do not have any prior experience in bike riding in hilly areas.
5. The Great Himalaya Ride
It is the longest and most challenging route in the list with a distance of 1500 kilometres, you will be able to ride through it in at least 11 to 15 days. The condition of the road is very good and smooth but, the area consists of narrow mountains at high altitudes. You will not even find proper roads through some of the small areas. So, this route is perfect of an adventure lover who loves to take up challenges.
