Motorcycle touring or touring is one of the most common activities of motorcycle riders. There is so much fun in travelling alone or with a group across states or borders as well as on unfamiliar places. Touring can sometimes last for days or weeks depending on the rider's choice. It can be done alone or with a group and you can go for a guided trip or you can choose to make an adventure by yourself.

If you are planning to go for a motorcycle tour on your own, there are certain things you need to consider. Remember that you are more prone to danger if riding alone than with a group. Your survival in the open road and in an unfamiliar place you're in depends on you alone and on how prepared you are for the tip. That is why there are things you need to bring with you that could help you survive and enjoy the trip. Motorcycle touring is a trip down to open highways or off road routes that might last for days or weeks and you might encounter a lot of problems along the way. However, if your trip is well-planned and you are packed with the right gear and staff, your trip will be a success.

So, when planning for a motorcycle touring trip, please remember the following things:

1. Wear bright-colored clothes. Be conspicuous. It is important to make yourself visible to every rider in the road. Aside from wearing the right riding clothes and safety gears, it is important to be conspicuous while on the road to avoid getting hit by another vehicle or rider. Aside from that, be mindful of the rules of the road. Don't make unnecessary and unexpected movements that may cause other vehicles to collide with you. Be mindful of your lane position, use your tail lights properly and don't forget to make a warning or eye contact with the other rider when planning to change lane. See our safe riding bible for more.

2. Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings. If you are traveling on unfamiliar places and by your own, be aware of the things around you and of the other riders who share the road with you. It is best to stay alert because there might be things you don't anticipate to encounter when riding on unfamiliar grounds. Check out our tips and tricks for safer street riding to learn more.

3. Pack lightly. It is very important to pack the most important things you need for a long trip. However, avoid taking too much luggage. Some of the things you need to bring are cash, cell phone, spare gloves, rain gear, tire repair and basic tool kit, toiletries, tire gauge, sunscreen, medications and a change of clothes.
